Women in Kickboxing
I didn't receive any comments by friends on my Facebook regarding kickboxing. I think the reason I didn't get a response is because in general, my friends on facebook don't comment on my facebook status updates very often. It would have to be something really thought-provoking or extreme to get a response from my active facebook friends. In class we discussed the idea that its more acceptable for women to want to be included in "men activities" than the other way around. I think women in kickboxing isn't all that uncommon. I feel kickboxing is dubbed the female-alternate to regular boxing. But, I was so desperate to get a comment from a friend, so I asked him what he thought of me starting kickboxing. He said kickboxing could be fun. I then explained it was for an assignment and he suggested maybe Hollywood portrays women in kickboxing a lot. He just felt its not out of the norm for a woman to engage in kickboxing.

I think a comment like, "I just gave a girl a roundhouse kick to the face in my kickboxing class" would get more responses!
i didn't receive many comments either. your friend is right, kickboxing is out of the norm
It isn't out of the norm. Men's roles are increasingly becoming female's roles. But female's roles are not becoming men's roles.
