Sadly, I didn't get very many responses to my Facebook post. One friend commented on the mother who killed her toddler because he interrupted her Farmville game. I think that says it all.

The "media fast" for 24 hours wasn't too hard--after all, I'm not a digital native. But I did catch myself automatically logging onto Facebook and had to quickly cancel out so I wouldn't read any posts. Since I don't have the internet on my cell phone, it's a lot easier for me to stay more disconnected--if I need to check my email, I have to log on to my computer. I find that the busier I am, the less I feel the need to be on Facebook. Facebook is a cure for boredom for me, so if I'm busy or engaged in an activity that is enjoyable, then I don't feel the constant need to check and see what other people are up to.

I also find that when I'm busier especially with things that I particularly enjoy doing, that I don't check it as often.
For example, when I'm dating someone, I almost never check my facebook because usually I'm spending time with them.
I absolutely agree that I check my facebook and text more when I am bored.
