I'll be honest. I didn't even bother posting a status about kickboxing on my facebook. I knew that none of my friends would find this even slightly out of the ordinary, it would elicit no response, and I would have a silly and untrue status posted on my wall.
I definitely defy "gender codes" regularly. I also think it is a lot easier-and a lot more admirable-for women to participate in "masculine" activities rather than the other way around.

I thought the same thing when I saw the the posts. I really don't think they'll get a shocking result.
I defy gender codes regularly too. Not just in the activities I do, more so in my personality. I have "guy-like" attributes to my personality and have been told by many of my guy friends that I'm just like a dude because of my laid back, chill attitude. Guess it's different from the emotional, involved, often over-thought responses and attitude that some women often offer.
well, so much for actually doing the assignment. haha. I agree that it is more accepted for girls to do manly things than for guys to do girly things.
i agree. girls who participate in "masculine" activities gives competition and defies gender codes.
Women participating in manly activities is nothing new.
I agree. The status didn't really do much. I only got a few responses and they were from my roommates. A kickboxing girl just isn't that crazy or out of the ordinary.
Thanks to the feminists, it is more typical for a girl to do a guy thing than the reverse. I don't mind much.
