No Reaction

I posted on my Facebook status that I will be taking up kickboxing. I didn't get nearly as many responses on this update as I did on the last one. I think that even though kickboxing would fall under the "male gender code", in today's society, it would not be a big deal for a girl to start doing it. This could be because many female celebrities have embraced this sport and have proved it to be a very good work out. It seems almost "hip" for a female to start kickboxing in today's world. I really don't think others would think twice about it. However, for a male to start sewing, I would definitely anticipate some uproar.

It's sometimes funny what people will respond to. I found more people responded to this one than the last post. Maybe because I have friends who sew (that are dudes). So they were supportive of me learning to sew.

I got the same response...which was not much of a response. Only girls commented and seemed very supportive. I guess it's not a big deal for girls to start kickboxing at all.

The only response I got to my comment was a girl telling me to come to her class at the gym and that I'd love it.

I agree on the comment about kick boxing to sewing sewing for a guy is more of a gender barrier. Girls are able to take all kinds of classes at the gym that they find fun and provide exercise.

It's funny that society is more tolerant when women conform to male gender codes I wonder if things will change down the road...

Yah, guys seem to think that girls who do "boy stuff" are especially attractive. Like, one time I told a boy I play videogames, and he was like "oh my gosh that is so hot." Case in point.
