I asked my friends how they would react if BYU eliminated all college athletics from the university. Most didn't believe that would even happen, but if it did, that sure would be the end of BYU and the end of many lives of faithful members of the church. Most say they identify with BYU through the athletics, and BYU wouldn't be BYU anymore. One friend ranted and raved about how BYU needs to improve their athletics or they will get shut down. Overall, it appears that most people are very passionate about their BYU collegiate sports, admitting they wouldn't even know what to do in college if they didn't have them.
