BYU Bans Collegiate Sports
This post drew a lot of controversy on my Facebook wall. One of my friends joked and said "Testimony you're outta here!" but I feel some people would have negative feelings towards the Church if they really did ban collegiate sports. One of my friends said "BYU-Idaho is doing just fine...Plus that means all the provo girls will stop chasing jerseys..." There obviously is a lot of truth to that. BYU-Idaho banned their sports program and their intramural program has replaced it. Another friends said "I would be ecstatic. In fact I feel the corruption that takes place in that program is a black eye for members everywhere. It should just be an academic university. Jmho." Then one of my friends questioned the last post and he responded again, "Absolutely corruption, greed, and hypocrisy runs rampant in that athletic department. Apparently you didn't hear anything about the secretive backdoor dealings with the WAC before BYU went independent. Screwed two conferences in doing it and left an instate brother on life support. Stay classy Provo." Obviously a USU fan talked about the WAC most likely disappearing. Then my sister who married an active BYU football played wrote, "What BYU football stands for is more important than just football. When BYU plays on ESPN 3 million people watch, it's not only a sport, we represent the church as well. Most fans forget that and are out of control. As being part of the team, we represent the church because BYU football is watched throughout the world."
