Racist, whether you mean it or not.

Interestingly enough, all those who responded to my Facebook post have been affected by racism. They all felt the need to respond for one reason or another. All but one of the people who responded to my question comes from a family of interracial marriage. Although we may not consider ourselves to be racist we recognize at an early age that there are distinct differences between our own race and other races. Those differences then cause us to be skeptical of others and at times, hesitant to form friendships. It is my opinion that those who are of a minority group see the world through racist eyes. To say that they see the world through racist eyes does not imply that racism does not exist, it just means that they are especially sensitive and apt to label others as racists.

I feel like I have no right to make any authoritative comments about race. I've lived in Utah County for 25 years. Before that I lived in Oregon where there were maybe 10 black kids in my high school. I can't even image what racism looks like to those that experience it every day.

One person that commented my facebook status was Hispanic and did claim that white people were racist but that they would never admit to it. The statement of people seeing through racists eyes is interesting. In my experience I have faced racist comments the funny thing is that they came from within my own race and others, but at the same time they got my race wrong to begin with. ha ha

I can see where you're coming from when you say those who experience it see through racist eyes. We all are products of what we experience in life.

I agree with your comment. I also think we can breed racism into people, and so certain people almost look for it in order to justify their feelings.

its hard to imagine what it would be like to become a minority but even the minority have the same opinions about some other race and i feel that sometimes the minority races are the ones that are the most racist.
