I am going to make a bold statement that I am not addicted. It didn't bother me nearly at all to not be on e-mail and chat. In fact I was almost happy about it because I had an excuse not to use chat so my friends wouldn't get mad at me for not chatting back. The e-mail thing was more annoying than anything else. I have a lot of information saved for classes and other things that are important to have, but I did fine with out them.
I am just curious why people get addicted in the first place. It is a generic or personality trait like alcoholism, or are they just habits we create ourselves? Nature or Nurture?

I think we all have the capacity to be addicted to something but it's definitely something we choose to allow. Ultimately it's our choices that let's us become addicted.
I think that we are creatures of habit. it has almost become mechanical for me to wake up and check my email and to check my phone after every class.
I think it is definitely how we are growing up in this culture of technology that is making some people so addicted. It becomes their nature because that is what their environment holds, but it is the changes in that environment that need to be taken into account...definitely a nurtured environment, which then breeds a type of technology "nature" for individuals.
