Alright, I'll admit it. I'm addicted...

*DISCLAIMER* I waited until now to post because I had to wait until a day when I didn't have to go to work or do applications. Please don't dock me, this assignment was super hard for me.

I am definitely addicted to my gmail account and my text messaging. I use Twitter, but I don't need in every day.

GMAIL
It's my life. I use Google Docs and my Google Calender as well as email and chat so much. I feel like I am not prepared when I can't get to my email. I need to be able to see emails from my professors and friends regarding assignments and to have documents proving I am staying on top of my studies/talking to my professors. On top of that, I never realized how much I used Gchat or Google Talk. I suddenly had no way to talk to/vent to my best friends. This made me especially frustrated without my text messaging as well.

TEXTING
I turned my phone off during church today, and I definitely was more spiritually uplifted and less concerned with worldly issues. I think I should do this all the time from now on, and I guess I should've been doing it all along. I kept wanting to check my phone and see my calls and texts. I finally got so frustrated at the end of the day, I had to text my visiting teachers back so that they could come and visit teach me.

FACEBOOK RESPONSE
Staying off Facebook all day doesn't really phase me unless I have interesting messages or someone tagged me in photos. I go no response to my status about being addicted to media. Cab anyone say...denial?

After this experiment, I am seriously considering not asking Santa for a smart phone. The phone might further my addiction and hinder my recovery by allowing me 24/7 Internet access.

I've been considering getting a smartphone so I could have more access to my email. Originally I thought being more connected would be a good thing. But after doing this experiment, I realized maybe I dont want to be attached to my email all day.

I know what you mean about church. I try to not to use facebook or check my email on Sunday but I do text(not during church) and i find that helps me observe the Sabbath without being so distracted.

I have a smart phone and it made this assignment almost impossible. Anywhere I go I can check my emails or get online, so I never leave myself anytime to just sit and think.

I agree. I think the further that our society develops technology, the easier it is to become completely addicted to it. I was watching people on campus today and at least 3/4 of them were either listening to music or talking on the phone. Was that true ten years ago? Kind of scary.

This is why I have a basic phone without even a camera on it. If I could check sports scores, check facebook and view the latest news, I would be addicted. So I would really 2nd not getting a Smart Phone as it helps me.

The smartphone is why I'm addicted too. The push notification saying so-and-so has tagged me in a photo will drive me crazy until I see it!
